Biography
Randy Spendlove is an American record producer, songwriter, Grammy Award winner, and music executive. As President of Motion Picture Music at Paramount Pictures, he manages all aspects of film music and has collaborated with artists such as Beyoncé, Linkin Park, Green Day, and U2.
He graduated from Gilroy High School in Gilroy, California, in 1982.
In 1990, Randy began his career at A&M Records as VP of Promotions, working with Janet Jackson, Sheryl Crow, Soundgarden, and Bryan Adams. By 1998, he became President of Motion Picture Music at Miramax Films, contributing to projects like Chicago, Shakespeare in Love, Cold Mountain, and Finding Neverland.
Randy joined Paramount in 2006 as Executive Vice President of Music and Creative Affairs and was promoted to President of Motion Picture Music in 2007. His credits include Hugo and The Adventures of Tintin, both nominated for Oscars for Best Original Score, as well as Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, which grossed $73 million at the US box office.
He earned a 2004 Grammy for Best Soundtrack Album for Chicago and co-supervised and co-produced the Dreamgirls soundtrack, which received three Academy Award nominations for Best Song. Randy serves on the board of the Society of Young Composers, mentors young composers and musicians at UCLA and USC, and is a member of the Recording Academy's Board of Governors. In 2011, he received the T.J. Martell Foundation's Humanitarian Award, and in 2007, he was honored with the Joseph Papp Racial Harmony Award from the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding. In 2012, Billboard ranked him number 69 on its Power 100 list.
