Biography
‘Edavela (Idavela) Babu’ was born on August 11th in Irinjalakuda, Thrissur District, Kerala, to the late V. Raman (Retired Administrative Assistant, Kerala Police Department) and Santha Raman (Retired Music Teacher, Government High School). He completed his high school education at Government Model Boy's High School, Irinjalakuda, and later earned his degree from Christ College, Irinjalakuda.
During his school years, he actively engaged in extracurricular activities, winning numerous awards and receiving a scholarship for securing first place in Folk Dance at the 17th State School Youth Festival in 1977. He continued this passion in college, winning first place consecutively from 1980 to 1983 in the Dance Competition at the Calicut University Youth Festival, representing Christ College, Irinjalakuda. Impressed by his talent, Director Sri Mohan cast him in the film ‘Edavela’ in 1981, marking a significant turning point in his career.

He is a well-known figure in households, having acted in more than 200 telefilms, serials, and mega serials on television. Beyond acting, he has worked as a compere and hosted numerous live shows on channels such as Doordarshan, Asianet, Surya, Kairali, and IndiaVision. Additionally, he has provided dubbing voices for actors like Vineeth, Rehman, K.P. Kumar, Ashok Pothen, Dileep, Vishnu, and Baiju, among others, and is also skilled in modeling.
