Biography
Dior Clarke is a British-born Jamaican actor, writer, director, and creative producer from North London, where he was raised by his mother, Melanie Clarke, in a family of four. After graduating from Highgate Wood School, he trained at The London School of Dramatic Arts, National Youth Theatre, and later The Academy of Live and Recorded Arts.
Driven by a passion to amplify underrepresented voices and stories, particularly those of Black queer and Black working-class communities, Dior has built a career in the arts as a performer, writer, director, and creative producer. He has appeared in a range of professional productions, including Baby Boy for Channel 4 directed by Greg Hall. He also stars in the web series Curious, directed by Rikki Beadle-Blair. Alongside his screen work, Dior has appeared in music videos, including David Bowie’s No Plan music video, and commercials for brands such as McDonald's, Pringles, and Tesco.
In 2018, Dior co-wrote, wrote, directed, and starred in Batty Boy for Sky Arts, a project sparked from lived experiences and personal truths, while not being entirely autobiographical.
His stage work includes Passion Fruit, the acclaimed semi-autobiographical coming-of-age comedy-drama co-written with Stephanie Martin. The production first premiered at The Glory before transferring to New Diorama Theatre in 2022, where it received five-star reviews and award nominations. The play text was later published by Team Angelica. It went on to receive multiple Black British Theatre Award nominations, including a nomination for Best Male Actor in a Play, and also secured two wins for the production. In 2025, it had a mini tour, selling out runs at the Barbican Centre and Cambridge Junction, under the direction of MBE Rikki Beadle-Blair, with the mini tour produced by his production company Loquaciously Unfiltered. A major national tour is set to return in 2027.
His most recent stage work was Daddy’s First Gay Date, a play written by Sam Danson and directed by Rikki Beadle-Blair. The production toured nationally before a three-week run at Seven Dials Playhouse, where he played the role of Tim and was met with strong critical and audience acclaim. Reviews highlighted his performance as "radiant energy" and praised the depth and chemistry he brought to the role, with the production receiving consistent 4 and 5-star reviews across the board.
Dior’s most recent short film, This Love Isn’t Taught, which he co-wrote and stars in, had its world premiere at BFI Flarein 2026. The film was produced by Euras Films and directed by Harry Brandrick.
Later this year, Dior will release The Prince, a vertical web-series TV pilot which he co-wrote and stars in, produced by Loquaciously Unfiltered.
Alongside his creative work, Dior has facilitated workshops with organizations and venues including the Barbican Centre and Cambridge Junction, helping young people develop acting skills, build confidence, and create original work of their own.
Dior Clarke continues to champion stories rarely seen on stage and screen, inspiring new generations while carving out space for authentic representation in the arts. Having always worked in collaboration, he is now stepping into a new era of writing solo, spreading his creative wings while continuing to build on everything already created. Many more projects are still in the pipeline.
