Biography
Colin Tilley (born June 27, 1988) is a Grammy-nominated American director known for music videos, commercials, and films, having collaborated with numerous high-profile artists.
He has written and directed music videos for artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna, Megan Thee Stallion, Justin Bieber, Post Malone, Cardi B, Halsey, Britney Spears, Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, J Balvin, Bad Bunny, Zendaya, Justin Timberlake, 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, and many others.
In 2014, Tilley directed, produced, and executive produced his debut short film, Mr. Happy, featuring Chance the Rapper, and is currently developing multiple film projects in Los Angeles, California. He has also directed commercials for brands including Coach, Diesel, YSL, Kia, Dolby Atmos, PGA 2K, Chipotle, and L'Oreal.
Tilley's music video for Kendrick Lamar's "Alright" earned a nomination for Music Video of the Year at the 2016 Grammys. His accolades include Video of the Year at the 2011 BET Awards for Chris Brown's "Look at Me Now", Best Male Video at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards for Justin Bieber's "U Smile", Best Direction at the 2015 MTV VMAs for Kendrick Lamar's "Alright", and Best Hip Hop Video at the 2015 VMAs for Nicki Minaj's "Anaconda". Additionally, he won Video of the Year and Best Cinematography at the Camerimage Film Festival in Poland for "Alright", as well as Video of the Year, Best Urban Video, and Best Cinematography at the 2015 UK Music Video Awards for the same video.
His nominations include Best Hip Hop Video and Best Collaboration Video at the 2011 MTV VMAs for Chris Brown's "Look at Me Now", Director of the Year at the 2014 BET Awards, and Video of the Year for Nicki Minaj's "Anaconda" at the 2015 BET Awards.
