Biography
Dave Maldonado has built a diverse and extensive 15-year career. His credits include portraying Curt Kuchta on the Transocean drill ship Capitan in the critically acclaimed film Deepwater Horizon (2016), alongside Mark Wahlberg, Kurt Russell, and John Malkovich. He has also appeared in notable feature films such as Free State of Jones (2016) with Matthew McConaughey, The 5th Wave (2016) with Chloe Grace Moretz, Trumbo (2015) with Bryan Cranston, and Trespass (2011) with Nicolas Cage and Nicole Kidman. He is set to appear alongside Chris Pratt in the upcoming Tomorrow War.
Maldonado has also featured in several independent films recognized at various film festivals, including the shorts Make it Rain (2014) and 27 (2014), as well as Hot Air (2016), and starred in the lead role in Jack's Apocalypse (2015).
In addition to his film work, he has an extensive television portfolio, appearing in series such as NCIS: New Orleans, Dynasty, Homeland, From Dusk Till Dawn, Queen Sugar, Queen of the South, and American Crime. His television credits also include Fox’s Sleepy Hollow, NBC’s Revolution, HBO's Treme opposite Melissa Leo, and the acclaimed True Detective with Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. Most recently, Maldonado appeared in the groundbreaking, Emmy-nominated Showtime series Your Honor alongside Bryan Cranston. He has performed in numerous corporate commercials and training videos across Houston, Dallas, Shreveport, and New Orleans. Notably, he serves as the national spokesman for the Olshan Foundation Company with former Houston Astros Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan.
His theater experience includes performances with several local companies in productions such as Our Town, A Midsummer Night's Dream, You Can't Take It With You, The Odd Couple, It’s a Wonderful Life, and Shadowlands.
Raised in New Iberia, Louisiana, in Cajun country, Maldonado attended the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in General Studies with a focus on art and theatre.
David and his wife Lori moved to Texas in 2002. They lead a typical family life with their two children. Outside of work, he enjoys watching all forms of football, attending live music events, and spending time as a dedicated father.
