Biography
Distinctive, uninhibited, and unique, actor Muzz Khan is rapidly gaining recognition in the entertainment world for the vivid characters he portrays on screen. Spanning television, film, theater, and music, Khan consistently showcases his versatility. In 2016, he co-starred on ABC's musical comedy "Galavant." Khan shines as Barry, the cantankerous and confused assistant to Wormwood (played by Robert Lindsay), a character reminiscent of a fusion between Kramer from "Seinfeld" and Daphne from "Frasier," with a Pakistani twist. The second season of "Galavant" premiered in January 2016.
On the big screen, Khan made his US feature debut in Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) and New Line Cinema's "Me Before You," playing Syed. The film, based on Jojo Moyes' 2012 bestselling novel, was released on June 3, 2016. It tells the story of Louisa Clark (Emilia Clarke), who forms an unexpected bond with William Traynor (Sam Claflin), a man recently paralyzed, after being hired by Syed as his caretaker.
Khan's television credits include: "24: Live Another Day," "Black Mirror: White Christmas," "Catastrophe," "The Suspicions of Mr Whicher," "Bradford Riots," and "No Angels." His filmography features: "Happy Toys," "The Hatching," "Four Lions," and "East is East." He has also appeared in theater productions, performing alongside Kim Cattrall in "Antony and Cleopatra," in Scott Rudin's "Behind The Beautiful Forevers" at the National Theatre in England, and at the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Beyond acting, Khan has enjoyed a successful career as a DJ in London since 2007. He debuted at the internationally acclaimed Pacha nightclub and held a resident DJ position there for two years. He has performed across Europe at venues like Ministry of Sound, O2 Academy, Proud Camden, numerous festivals, and Spanish clubs including Space and Es Paradis in Ibiza. Khan has shared stages with artists such as 2ManyDJs, Erick Morillo, Fedde Le Grand, MK, Armin Van Buuren, Eric Prydz, Basement Jaxx, Chris Lake, among many others.
Born in Burnley and raised in Nelson, Lancashire, Khan developed a love for the arts early on. By age eight, he was passionate about house music, and his interest in acting blossomed during high school when the BBC filmed an episode of "Hetty Wainthropp Investigates" at his school. Khan volunteered as a background student and ended up filming a small scene as an extra. Despite no prior acting experience and coming from a small town, the experience captivated him. Before attending drama school, he secured his first paid acting role in Miramax's "East is East," which also starred Archie Panjabi from "The Good Wife."
Khan trained at the prestigious Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in South Kensington, London, alongside peers Natalie Dormer, Rupert Friend, Elyes Gabel, and Tom Mison, graduating in 2004.
He currently resides in the UK with his wife and son.
