Biography
Alexis Carra, born and raised in Tampa, Florida, with Spanish, Cuban, and Argentinian roots, showed a passion for performing from a young age, beginning dance classes at two. As a teenager, she danced with Tampa's Bay Ballet Theater and trained with Alvin Ailey and the Princeton Ballet while exploring musical theater. The daughter of a psychiatrist and psychologist, she valued education and graduated Cum Laude from Yale University with a B.A. in Theatre Studies.
While at Yale, she took a break to tour nationally with Ann Reinking's Tony Award-winning musical "Fosse," deepening her love for musical theater. After graduation, she moved to New York, landing roles in major Broadway shows like "Wicked," "Sweet Charity," and "Fame on 42nd St." Following the closing of "The Pirate Queen," she relocated to Los Angeles, where she has consistently worked. Her TV guest appearances include "Grey's Anatomy," "Castle," "The Mentalist," and "Bones." She was a series regular on ABC’s comedy "Mixology," playing Jessica, a young mom rediscovering love and confidence post-divorce; the show also streamed on Netflix.
A dedicated fitness enthusiast, Carra enjoys yoga, Pilates, and running. She continues to study and teach ballet, modern, and jazz dance to maintain her skills, extending her passion into choreography. She assisted on Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance" and choreographed for Discovery Channel's "The Beekman Boys." Additionally, she teaches a musical theater jazz class at The Edge, a well-known dance studio in Los Angeles.
Carra is committed to women's causes and serves as Head of Content Creation for the New Hollywood Women's Goal Group, Inc., supporting women in entertainment to pursue career, personal, and philanthropic goals authentically. She has produced, directed, and choreographed benefit events raising funds for organizations like Free The Slaves, the American Cancer Society, and St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
