Biography
Edward X. Young studied film and television production, acting, and journalism at Seton Hall University; acting and stage directing at Brookdale College; business administration at Monmouth University; and film production at New York University. He developed his acting abilities as a member of the R.I.S.K. Improvisational Theatre Group under the guidance of Fabir Rodriguez-Ammirato. Early in his career, he performed on stage in the New York Metropolitan Area in productions such as "Amadeus," "Dracula," "Children of a Lesser God," "True West," "The Boys Next Door," and "Modigliani." He also directed theater productions including "Waiting for Godot," "Hurlyburly," "Lunchtime," and "Wait Until Dark."
During the late 1970s through the early 1990s, while involved in the Downtown New York City art scene, he engaged deeply with punk music, forming friendships with members of Johnny Thunders' band The Heartbreakers, Walter Lure's band The Waldos, and Church Pills. He served as the publicity manager for The Suave Elbows, which included musicians Christopher Clunie and Marty Byk.
After stepping away from performing arts for ten years to move to New Hampshire, raise a family, and pursue journalism, Ed revived his acting career by appearing in the radio play "The Death Guard," based on the science fiction novel by Philip George Chadwick. This production was co-produced and directed by Kate Linaker (also known as Kate Phillips), the screenwriter for the 1958 film "The Blob," and was broadcast on New Hampshire radio stations. Subsequently, Ed joined the Greenville Shakespeare Festival in Greenville, New Hampshire.
In 2007, Young returned to the New York metro area and became a member of the Celtic Theatre Company, based at Seton Hall University, his alma mater. His recent acting work has mainly focused on genre horror films.
Additionally, he has contributed to numerous experimental film and video projects as a director, writer, editor, animator, and special effects makeup artist. His early collaborations include multiple short films produced alongside Daniel Acon.
