Biography
Andrey's passion for the arts emerged early in childhood, when his mother enrolled him in an art club before he entered elementary school. There, he began studying visual arts.
Andrey’s artistic journey took a decisive step forward at age nine, when he made his debut on an elementary school theatre stage. Around the same time, he began studying the acting techniques of renowned Russian theatre practitioners Konstantin Stanislavski and Michael Chekhov.
At eleven, Andrey began training in basketball at a professional level. In the late 1990s, his interests expanded beyond sports as he developed a deep fascination with filmmaking and music, particularly hip-hop. After acquiring his first home computer, he began teaching himself film editing, graphic design, and music production. Merging his passions for basketball and cinema, Andrey independently produced, directed, and edited his debut documentary sports film Remix Tape Volume 1 (2002) when he was just seventeen years old, becoming one of the youngest directors in cinema history. The project fused basketball, cinema, and hip-hop culture.
Parallel to his filmmaking efforts, Andrey Batt began developing his identity as a music producer. He started his music career as a beat maker, producing tracks for African artist friends.
In 2010, Andrey moved to Los Angeles to pursue his American career. Year later, he appeared in American TV shows as Justified (2010) and The Walking Dead (2010).
After returning to Russia, Batt resumed his music career and released several music singles. Few years later, in 2015, his song "Letniy (Remix)" entered international charts across Europe and Asia, reaching the Top 10 in France, Japan, China, and Taiwan.
In 2016, Andrey Batt performed the musical halftime show at a EuroLeague game, becoming the first Russian artist to receive this honor. The same year, he launched his breakthrough documentary series The Artist's Adventures (2016).
In 2023, Andrey returned to acting and voiced Marty the caterpillar, for the Eastern European release of the Canadian animated motion picture Butterfly Tale (2023).
