Biography
James Preston Rogers was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to Sandra and Robert Rogers, who had no idea he would grow into the larger-than-life talent he is today. An athlete throughout high school and college, James discovered his true passion when he auditioned for a national commercial without a headshot, resume, or agent—and landed the role. Realizing he had found an outlet for his creative instincts, he pursued a career in acting.
James achieved success in commercials and local theater, which led to an invitation from WWE to become a star wrestler. He embraced wrestling wholeheartedly and quickly rose to prominence in the WWE. However, soon after transitioning to professional wrestling, James auditioned for and secured the role of 'Bjorn' in the film Outlander, starring opposite Ron Perlman and Jim Caviezel. This opened the door to several leading roles, including Sea of Change alongside Tom Selleck and the indie film Poker Nights.
Recognizing James’ rising acting career, WWE graciously released him from his contract, allowing him to focus fully on acting. He later starred in Pixels with Adam Sandler and Kevin James, had recurring roles on the drama Crash & Burn and the comedy Walk the Prank, and guest-starred on the popular series Reign. More recently, James appeared in the critically acclaimed Netflix series Frontier, starring opposite Jason Momoa and Alun Armstrong.
James Preston Rogers has become a familiar face on television, with recurring roles on the hit series Mayans MC alongside Robert Patrick, the HBO series The Righteous Gemstones opposite John Goodman, guest spots on Leverage, and contributions to Love, Death, & Robots. He stars as Hulk Hogan in the Al Yankovic biopic Weird: The Al Yankovic Story opposite Daniel Radcliffe, and appears alongside Eddie Murphy in the new Beverly Hills Cop film.
Standing 6'6" with a commanding muscular presence, James naturally stands out both physically and through his impressive acting skills. Throughout his career, he has built lasting relationships with industry talents such as Ron Perlman, Donnie Wahlberg, and Aidan Devine. His performance in Sea of Change left such a strong impression on Tom Selleck that Selleck highlighted a scene with James during an interview on Live with Regis & Kelly. James remains grateful and fortunate to have worked with remarkable artists who have guided and supported him along his journey.
