Biography
Ariel Ortiz Lagardere is a Mexican-American bariatric and metabolic surgeon, educator, and medical content producer.
He is the founder of Hospital CYNTAR, Obesity Control Center, and the Academy of Surgical Innovation, where he develops integrated models for surgical care, education, and technology adoption.
As a surgeon, his work focuses on bariatric and metabolic surgery, with experience spanning more than three decades and over 30,000 procedures. His clinical outcomes and high-volume practice have been part of academic collaborations, including research conducted with the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), evaluating nearly 20,000 bariatric procedures.
Ortiz is a professor of surgery and clinical medicine at the Autonomous University of Baja California and has participated in surgical education initiatives internationally. He is also involved in global educational efforts through the Oxford University-International Bariatric Club (IBC) partnership, contributing to academic programming and digital surgical education.
In addition to his clinical and academic work, Ortiz is the founder of Quo Vadis Productions, a media platform focused on the development of educational, surgical, and institutional content.
