Biography
Trish Rainone is a screenwriter, director, digital content producer, and actress from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. Raised as the middle daughter in a family of girls by their mother, she discovered her passion for writing early on, often creating short stories, poems, and songs during science and history classes as a teenager. At nine years old, she appeared in several episodes of a national television series but was frightened by performing on camera and stage, causing her to avoid acting for years afterward.
Today, Trish is the writer behind numerous shorts, web series, and feature films. Her debut short film, "Constance," though low-budget and filmed in her basement, earned her a Best Actress award and screened at festivals across North America in 2015. Her second self-created project, the online comedy series "My Roommate's an Escort," co-created with Katie Uhlmann and executive produced by David Carruthers, won Best Comedy at the Miami Web Festival, Best New Media at the Kapow Film Festival in Los Angeles, and both the Director's Choice Best Series Award and the Audience Choice Award at the Austin Revolution Film Festival in 2017.
The second season of "My Roommate's an Escort" was filmed in her hometown of Sault Ste. Marie, with producer Rebeka Herron joining the team and support from the Canada Media Fund and NOHFC. It was scheduled for release in winter 2019 and features a talented ensemble of Canadian ACTRA performers.
Trish and Rebeka Herron have since launched a production company, 180 Sisterhood Productions, with multiple series, shorts-for-concept, and feature films in development. Between 2018 and 2019, Trish received several Best Lead Actress nominations for her role as Ellen in "One Night Stand" (WKZ Media) at festivals worldwide. The film also won 2nd place in the CTV Best in Shorts competition at Cinefest Sudbury, ON, in fall 2019.
While screenwriting remains her main focus, acting continues to be a passion. Trish has appeared on screen in projects such as "The Void," "V-Wars," both seasons of "My Roommate's an Escort," "One Night Stand," and commercials for Budweiser and Canada Protection Plan.
In 2018-2019, she co-wrote the heartfelt coming-of-age feature "Not All Who Wander Are Lost" with Tyler (Daley) Blake Smith, which she plans to produce as a tribute to his life and story following his tragic passing from cancer.
Trish's directorial debut, the short film "Milk," was set for release in early 2020, with plans to expand it into a feature film later that year. She is active on Instagram @TrishRainone1 and online at trishrainone.net.
