Biography
Matthew D. Chavez is an Executive In Charge of Production and producer with extensive experience leading large scale unscripted television productions from development through final delivery. Over the course of his career, he has built a reputation for combining creative problem solving with strong operational leadership, helping guide complex network productions across every stage of production including pre production, studio operations, field production, post production, staffing, budgeting, scheduling, and final network delivery.
Matthew is best known for his leadership on many popular network television shows, including one of the world’s most successful culinary competition franchises, MasterChef. In his role as Executive In Charge of Production, he oversees large scale domestic and international production operations, managing crews, logistics, creative execution, and production infrastructure while collaborating closely with executive producers, network partners, talent, department heads, and production companies. His experience includes coordinating productions across multiple countries and navigating the unique challenges of high pressure, fast paced television environments.
Matthew’s journey into the entertainment industry began during his senior year of high school, driven by a strong passion for television production and storytelling. He has often shared that from a young age, he felt called to work in television and believed Jesus opened the doors that led him into the entertainment industry. His persistence and determination helped him land an internship with the Donny & Marie talk show at Sony Studios, an opportunity that opened the door to the industry and set the foundation for his career. Through hard work, networking, and building lasting professional relationships, Matthew continued securing opportunities that allowed him to steadily climb the ranks within television production.
Known for his relentless work ethic and commitment to excellence, Matthew spent years working long hours across productions while gaining experience in multiple areas of the industry. His dedication to building a successful career ultimately led him to make the difficult decision to step away from college just a few credits shy of earning his Associate’s degree in Business, as the rapid growth of his career in entertainment was demanding his full attention and opening doors that would shape his future.
Throughout his career, Matthew has become known for his calm leadership style, attention to detail, and ability to balance creative ambition with practical execution. He has played a key role in building production systems that allow teams to operate efficiently while maintaining a strong collaborative culture on set. His work spans both studio and location based productions, often overseeing large crews, complex technical operations, and demanding production schedules.
In September 2029, Matthew will celebrate 30 years working in the entertainment industry, a milestone reflecting decades of dedication, perseverance, leadership, and passion for television production.
Beyond production management, Matthew is passionate about developing creative concepts, strengthening teams, mentoring producers and crew members, and helping productions operate at the highest possible standard. His experience includes executive level budgeting, production strategy, talent coordination, vendor negotiations, and large scale operational planning for network television.
Outside of the entertainment industry, Matthew is deeply committed to his faith, family, and community. He is a devoted husband who deeply loves and values his wife Veronica, and together they are raising their four children with a strong foundation of faith, love, and family values. Matthew considers being a husband and father to be his greatest calling and takes pride in leading his family with integrity, encouragement, and compassion.
Matthew openly credits God for his success and believes his faith has guided every stage of his journey. He strives to honor Jesus in the workplace by leading with integrity, kindness, humility, and compassion. In an industry that can often be challenging and spiritually difficult, Matthew desires to be a light to those around him and to positively impact the people he works with both professionally and personally.
One of the greatest commandments that Matthew tries to live by is to love others the way Jesus loves people. Whether in the workplace, ministry, friendships, or everyday life, he does his best to genuinely love, encourage, support, and care for those around him.
He is also actively involved in ministry and church leadership, with a passion for discipleship, mentorship, and serving others. Whether overseeing a major television production or investing in the lives of those around him, Matthew approaches every opportunity with purpose, creativity, humility, and a commitment to excellence.
