Biography
Stephen Quadros's path to acting was almost accidental. He initially moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a drummer and found local success and radio airplay with the band SNOW, which included guitarist Carlos Cavazo (Quiet Riot, Ratt). He was even invited to New York to audition for the band KISS.
However, recurring hand injuries ended his drumming career, leading Quadros to focus on acting. He studied under renowned instructors such as Cameron Watson, William Alderson, Stella Adler, Milton Justice, Arthur Mendoza, Scott Bernstein, Michelle Danner, and Mark Haining.
As an actor, Quadros has appeared in over 50 films and television shows, starring, guest-starring, or co-starring alongside notable figures like Bryan Cranston, Kathryn Bigelow, Miles Teller, Nicolas Winding Refn, John Hawkes, Cuba Gooding Jr., Peter Falk, David Caruso, Blair Underwood, Traci Lords, and Angela Lansbury.
In addition to acting, Stephen Quadros is a martial arts expert specializing in kickboxing and mixed martial arts (MMA), with over 20 years of experience as a practitioner, teacher, and trainer.
His unique combination of skills led him to appear in and serve as fight technical advisor for the 2003 film Cradle 2 the Grave, starring Jet Li, Mark Dacascos, and DMX. The film debuted in February 2003 and reached number one at the box office. Quadros also choreographed one of the fight sequences in the film.
He was the fight coordinator, choreographer, and second unit director for Pit Fighter (20th Century Fox), released in 2005. Additionally, he served as fight technical advisor for Exit Wounds (2001), which starred Steven Seagal, Michael Jai White, and DMX. Quadros co-starred in Sworn To Justice alongside Black Belt Hall of Famer Cynthia Rothrock and guest-starred as the lead in a season premiere of Walker, Texas Ranger, facing off against martial arts legend Chuck Norris.
Stephen Quadros is also a leading martial arts and combat sports journalist. In 1998, he became a columnist and contributing editor for Black Belt magazine, holding the position for over three years. His monthly column, "FightSport," earned international recognition. Black Belt magazine later launched a dedicated publication titled Black Belt Presents: Fightsport, with Stephen Quadros as editor. The magazine debuted nationally in February 2002. Quadros contributed during its first year to help establish the publication before stepping away to focus on film, television, and sports broadcasting.
Globally recognized in martial arts communities, Quadros has hosted and provided commentary for some of the largest and most successful fight shows worldwide, including Showtime Network's Strikeforce mixed martial arts series, Pride Fighting Championships (pay-per-view), and Glory Kickboxing (ESPN, CBS Sports). He earned the nickname "The Fight Professor" while commentating on a K-1 event in Japan in 1998.
