Biography
Purushothaman V is a Kerala-based television and film director, screenwriter, and producer with a career spanning over two decades and more than 3,500 television episodes across Malayalam television's leading networks: Asianet, Surya TV, Amrita TV, and Mazhavil Manorama. He began his career as an assistant director under filmmaker T.K. Rajeev Kumar, working across a range of Malayalam and Hindi productions including Pavithram, Thacholi Varghese Chekavar, and the Hindi films Raja Ko Rani Se Pyar Ho Gaya and Kushti. His early international work includes a technical association in the French production Flammen im Paradies (1997). Purushothaman went on to direct a string of long-running, multi-starrer Malayalam family dramas, among them Kilikkoodu, Snehadooram, Sthreehrudayam, Mukhamariyathe Kathayariyathe, Thinkalum Tharakangalum, Nilavilakku (over 1,000 episodes), Ilamthennal Pole, Bhagyalekshmi, and Rani Raja. His serial Chithrasalabham won the Kerala State Television Award for Best Serial in 2006. In 2021, he directed Ente Kuttikalude Achhan, the Malayalam adaptation of Ekta Kapoor's Hindi hit Kya Huaa Tera Vaada, for Mazhavil Manorama. Beyond television, he wrote and directed the Hindi short film Vapasi, commissioned by NIRD, and the telefilm Madakkayathra for Amrita TV. His work as associate director and scriptwriter also extends to major stage productions across the world.
