Biography
Joel Roman is a character actor born and raised in Bridgeport, Connecticut. His parents are Maria and Noel Roman, and he has two younger siblings, Jonathan and Jeanette Roman.
Represented by the Sylvia Hutson Agency, Joel is a seasoned actor and a member of SAG/AFTRA.
Throughout his career, Joel has appeared in films such as Cielto Lindo (alongside Adam Rodriguez of CSI: Miami), The Journey, Dockweiler (with Tony Todd), Skid Marks (featuring Dianna Agron from Glee), The Grind, Remembering Phil (with Nicholas Turturro), and Dibs, portraying strong lead and supporting roles. His television credits include Law & Order, Johnny Zero, Filmfakers, America's Most Wanted, iCarly, Happily Never After, and FBI: Criminal Pursuit. Joel has also performed in Off-Broadway productions in New York and California, including A Midsummer Night's Dream (with former Miss America Kate Shindle and NFL Hall of Famer John Riggins) and The Madwoman of Chaillot. Additionally, he has appeared in commercials for McDonald's, Wal-Mart, and the Spanish TV station Mun 2.
Joel began acting during his senior year at Warren Harding High School and attended the Regional Center for Arts (RCA). After graduating in 2000, he continued honing his craft by taking acting classes at Housatonic Community College. He also participated in workshops at TVI Studios in New York and trained with independent coaches. Furthermore, Joel studied and attended workshops while living in Hollywood, California.
His one-man show, Hollywood's Lost Child: It Ain't Easy Being Godly, provided him a valuable platform to showcase his talents. He wrote, co-directed, and produced the play, performing it at the Housatonic Theater in Connecticut and at the One Act Festival in New York. In August 2013, he earned the Best Actor award at the Smithfield One Act Festival in Virginia. The play will be performed under a new title, Hollywood to Holiness: It Ain't Easy Being Godly, in Hampton Roads, surrounding cities, and other locations where he is called to minister this powerful message.
Joel made his directorial debut in the summer of 2011 with an urbanized remake of Othello titled MyOthello, produced through AmeriCorps. He adapted the set, wardrobe, and some language in the script to make the production more relatable to today's youth.
