Biography

Born to a railroad worker father and a teacher mother, Yannick Choirat studied theater at Vaugelas High School in Chambéry, where he earned a baccalaureate in the A3 department. He later moved to Paris to study at the Sorbonne Nouvelle Institute and took theater lessons from Véra Gregh and Tania Balachova. He spent five years working under Bernard Grosjean’s direction at a Theater-Forum company, performing interactive social awareness theater in French high schools, prisons, dormitories for young workers, and hospitals.

In 2018, he appeared in the series Victor Hugo, starring in Victor Hugo, Enemy, directed by Jean-Marc Moutout and broadcast on France 2 (4 × 52 min), under the direction of the Council of State. For his role, he employed a thorough preparation method involving extensive reading and research about the character, as well as a physical transformation including weight gain and hair growth.

In 2019, he won the Best Actor award at the La Rochelle Festival for his performance in a film showcased at the Luchon Festival.
