Biography

Dany Dauberson (16 January 1925 – 16 March 1979) was a French singer and actress.

Born in Le Creusot, Saône-et-Loire, France, Dauberson participated in the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest on 24 May 1956, held at the Teatro Kursaal in Lugano. In the contest's first year, each country had two representatives. Dauberson performed the song "Il est là" ("He's Here"), while her fellow French entrant Mathé Altéry sang "Le Temps Perdu" ("Lost Time"). The results and ranking of Dauberson's performance have never been publicly revealed, as only the winner was announced.

In April 1967, Dauberson was involved in a severe car accident on the N13 road near Duranville, Eure. Her vehicle skidded off the road and collided with a tree. Thrown through the windscreen, Dauberson survived, but her companion, actress Nicole Berger, seated beside her, sustained a fractured skull and crushed rib cage. Both were hospitalized, but Berger succumbed to her injuries. The crash caused lasting physical and emotional trauma for Dauberson, effectively ending her singing career. She passed away in 1979 at the age of 54.

Dauberson was laid to rest in Saint-Claude, located in the Jura department, where she had spent part of her childhood.
