Biography
Douglas J. Miller, born Douglas James Miller in Vancouver, Canada, has Austrian and Slovakian roots on his father's side, and Irish, Finnish, French, Scottish, and Swedish heritage on his mother's side.
Following high school, Douglas received a wrestling scholarship from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, competing in wrestling tournaments across Canada and the United States during his initial two years. He later earned a bachelor's degree in English Literature and graduated from the university’s Theatre Program.
His stage credits include a Skylight Theatre production of William Shakespeare’s ‘Twelfth Night’ in Toronto (directed by Lewis Baumander); more than 400 performances in Toronto of Agatha Christie’s ‘The Mousetrap’ (promoted as "Canada's Longest Running Show"); Lanford Wilson’s ‘Talley’s Folly’ at the Victoria Playhouse Petrolia; an Imago Theatre presentation of Ronald Harwood’s ‘The Dresser’ in Montréal; and Brian Doyle’s ‘Angel Square’ at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. Additionally, Douglas was the lead vocalist and songwriter for the rock ‘n’ roll band The Fringe, which performed at Toronto venues such as the El Mocambo.
Early in his screen career, Douglas appeared in ‘Top Cops’, ‘The Hidden Room’, ‘Spenser: A Savage Place’, ‘Forever Knight’, ‘Liberty Street’, ‘The Donor’, and ‘Kung Fu: The Legend Continues’.
More recent film and television roles include ‘Awakening the Zodiac’, ‘She Never Died’, ‘Designing Christmas’, ‘The Sacrifice Game’, ‘The Boarding School Murders’, ‘Son of a Critch’, the iconic role of Dracula in ‘Rise of the Mixed-Blood Queen’, a recurring FBI Agent in ‘The Art of More’, and a recurring part in Netflix’s ‘The Body’.
