Biography
David Youse was born in Philadelphia, PA, on January 19, 1966. He was raised in Jenkintown, PA, and began working in local dinner theaters around Philadelphia. At 14, he performed at the Huntingdon Valley Dinner Theater in productions such as The Music Man, Damn Yankees, and The Boyfriend, understudying the lead role originally played by Broadway's Hugh Panaro.
In 1983, David moved to New York and enrolled at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts but left before completing his second year. His first New York role was in the off-off Broadway play "My Papa's Wine," where he portrayed a teenager suffering from hydrocephalus. The play, which also featured Laura San Giacomo, Ted Marcoux, and Zohra Lampert, received acclaim, including recognition from the New York Times, leading to numerous other theater roles in New York. David also began working in television with appearances on shows like Spenser For Hire and the CBS Schoolbreak Special Soldier Boys, alongside James Earl Jones and Dylan Walsh.
Relocating to Los Angeles in 1989, David established a steady career in television.
Venturing into producing and directing, David created the one-man short film The Callback, which has been showcased at various film festivals and is available to view online.
Recently, David produced the 25th Anniversary Reading of The Normal Heart by Larry Kramer, benefiting The Jeffrey Goodman Special Care Clinic in Los Angeles. Directed by Joel Grey, the event reunited David with Dylan Walsh and longtime friends Jonathan Del Arco and David Eigenberg, alongside Lisa Kudrow, Tate Donovan, Clark Gregg, Tim Bagley, Jon Tenney, and Alec Mapa.
