Biography
Hanna Mangan-Lawrence, born on 5 March 1991 in London, England, is an actress with Australian and British nationality. She is well-known in Australia for her role as Holly in the drama series Bed of Roses, earning an AFI Award nomination in 2008 and a Logie Award nomination in 2009. Internationally, she gained recognition as Seppia in the Starz historical drama Spartacus: Vengeance.
Her film career began in 2005 with the short films Simulation 1201 and Galore, followed by a lead role as Georgie in the short film Sexy Thing, which was selected for the Cannes Film Festival.
In 2008, Mangan-Lawrence appeared in the horror film Acolytes, directed by John Hewitt, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. She portrayed Chasely, a naive and flirtatious high school student. She later appeared as Lily in Nash Edgerton's film The Square, earning a Filmink nomination for Best Australian Newcomer.
In 2009, she featured in the Australian period drama Lucky Country, directed by Kriv Stenders.
Mangan-Lawrence starred as Holly Atherton in the ABC drama series Bed of Roses, receiving an AFI Award nomination for Best Guest or Supporting Actress in a Television Drama in 2008, and a Logie Award nomination for the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Outstanding New Talent in 2009.
In 2012, she starred in the feature film Thirst alongside Myles Pollard, Victoria Haralabidou, and Tom Green. She also had a recurring role as Seppia on the Starz series Spartacus: Vengeance.
She is the daughter of Maggie Mangan, an English teacher and playwright, and Ray Lawrence, who teaches geography, economics, and business studies. Hanna has a half-sister, Rosene; two half-brothers, Liam and Reuben; a stepsister, Zoe; and a stepmother, Paddy, who is also a teacher. As a member of Australia's elite gymnastics team, she represented the country internationally and won the Acrobat of the Year – International – Senior award at the 2005 Gymnastics Australia National Awards. In 2009, she completed her high school education through Pathways at the Newtown High School of the Performing Arts.
