Biography

Brian Taggert, born on January 29, 1938, in California, was a writer of Scottish heritage. After his parents divorced during his childhood, he was raised by his grandparents in LA's Hancock Park until around the age of ten. He also served as an altar boy in the Episcopal Church. Following high school graduation, Taggert joined the military and was stationed in Germany. He pursued a brief acting career and spent three years in Scotland, where he studied dramatic art at the Royal Scottish Academy and literature at the University of Edinburgh. Eventually, Taggert shifted his focus from acting to writing. After six years of breaking into the entertainment industry, he began writing teleplays for episodic television in 1973. He later wrote screenplays for several theatrical films and made-for-TV movies. Additionally, Taggert taught a script-writing course at UCLA's film school titled "Things That Go Bump in the Night: Writing the Thriller/Horror/Sci-Fi Picture" and continued writing scripts on spec in his later years. He passed away from a heart attack on June 1, 2019, at the age of 81 in his Los Angeles home.
