Biography
Danny Winn has proven himself to be a versatile and instinctive actor with a wide range of expressions, gaining recognition not only in Hollywood but also nationally and soon internationally. This spring, he brings his theatrical talent to the big screen with two breakout films. In March, Danny stars as Paul, a complex priest wrestling with his inner demons, in the suspense thriller “The Crossbreed,” directed by acclaimed Turkish filmmaker Biray Dalkiran. This marks Dalkiran’s ninth feature and his Hollywood debut. “The Crossbreed” has garnered multiple awards at various Los Angeles film festivals and is being released internationally.
Danny’s second spring release is the period western “Hyde Park,” directed by Nicholas Barton, known for his dedication to authentic, untold western stories. Danny opens the film and plays a compelling supporting role as Happy Jim, a Faro dealer caught in a web of love, jealousy, arrogance, and the harsh realities of the Old West. His portrayal of Happy Jim challenges him to embody essentially two characters in one. Audiences will also see Danny’s card-dealing skills, which he specifically mastered for this role, including a signature move called the Faro flip. Additionally, Danny performs his own stunts in “Hyde Park.” He shares the screen with actors such as C. Thomas Howell, Luke Arnold, Viva Bianca, Richard Riehle, MC Gainey, and others.
Winn attributes his believable, instinctive acting to his diverse real-life experiences. He draws on a broad spectrum of emotions from personal memories, blending them with his interpretation of the character’s outward persona. He believes that true magic happens during filming when the character instinctively shines in the moment without overthinking. His emotional range and adaptability stem from the many people and experiences he encountered while moving frequently during his father’s 21-year military career.
Danny holds a degree in Fine Arts in Theatre and has secured several supporting, guest, and co-star roles in television series such as NBC’s “The Night Shift,” AMC’s “Longmire” and “Graves,” and WGN’s “Manhattan.” He has also worked in small stunt and stunt coordinator roles on productions including AMC’s “Preacher,” the films “Shot Caller” and “The Cost of Sin,” and as a horse rider in the remake of “The Magnificent Seven.” One of Winn’s early feature film roles was in the 2017 movie “Gold,” where he appeared alongside Matthew McConaughey as a disgruntled investor ready to confront McConaughey’s character.
