Synopsis
HÁBITAT is an audiovisual documentary project with a deep environmental commitment and a keen artistic sense. It aims to raise awareness and educate about nature, reaffirming the need to re-inhabit our world with a different perspective. The series consists of six 25-minute episodes, where through the various bird species featured, we learn about our fauna, the rich biodiversity of their habitats, and the importance of their conservation. 1) Ardea - Between water and fire In the first episode of the series, we get to know the herons that inhabit Uruguay. These aquatic birds remind us of the importance of wetland conservation and the dangers of uncontrolled burning. 2) Raising ravens - The encounter of two worlds The conqueror arrives at the Uruguayan coast and encounters the urubú... Due to its resemblance to the European scavenger, he called it: "RAVEN!" In the hills, where the life cycle of the lagoon inhabitants begins, a pair of black-headed vultures raise their chicks. These scavengers, historically considered "birds of ill omen," will show us that far from being creatures of evil, they are an essential part of the delicate balance of the ecosystem. 3) The Big Ball - A tale of flamingos Horacio Quiroga's fiction blends with real life in the eastern lagoons. These elegant creatures will not search for coral snake socks but rather the shallow areas of the lagoons where they coexist with owls, dolphins, sandpipers, and also the black snake. 4) Cara Cara - Our most precious treasure In a tribute to spaghetti western films, various species of birds of prey from our native fauna, such as the red eagle, the long-winged hawk, and the caracara, showcase their different aspects. 5) Migrants - An American story Migrants from the Arctic arrive at the coastal lagoons of eastern Uruguay. Here they coexist with resident species and other migrants, such as the southern right whale, sea turtles, and the vermilion flycatcher, in a brief tour through the history of migrations on the continent. 6( Ñandú Pysâ - In space and time The Rhea, so closely associated with Uruguayan culture, will take us on a poetic historical journey that spans from the beginning of the universe, through the mega fauna, and into the present era.
