Henry VIII Goofs

Anachronisms

As Cromwell and Cranmer meet to discuss Anne Boleyn, Cromwell drinks from a plastic cup.
Henry tells Catherine of Aragon that the country needs a male heir because 'without one, The Firm is at risk'. Henry Tudor would not have used this term for the royal family. Sources differ, but the phrase appears to have been coined by either King George VI or Prince Philip.
Henry is the only character who ages. Cromwell, Cranmer, Wolesey and the others appear not to age at all.
Henry VIII is asked whether he dies in the faith of Christ, but his father was not asked that.

Continuity

As Anne travels to the Tower in a small rowing boat, it passes 3 heads on spikes. After the camera angle changes, the boat passes those same heads again.

Factual Mistake

Just before the interior scene in which the Pope writes his refusal to divorce Henry VIII from Catherine of Aragon, a panoramic view of the Vatican, including St. Peter's basilica, suggests that the Pope was in Rome/the Vatican at the time. In fact, he was at Orvieto, where he wrote and signed this particular document in the Papal palace.
As Henry rides from his place of exile to Anne Boleyn, modern sailboats are visible on the horizon.

Miscellaneous

While Katherine Howard is in the bath and orders Culpepper to be shown in, her maid goes directly to the door without passing through any curtains. When Katherine tells Thomas to 'come closer', a curtain is now there for him to pass through.
In the joust scene, the lances bend on impact and wobble as the horses gallop—they are clearly made of rubber.
In the first joust scene, the King calls for his armor and, seconds later, is fully armored and mounted. He could not have put on his armor that quickly or mounted his horse without assistance. If Henry had planned to joust that day, he would already have been wearing armor.

Plot Holes

While plotting by the fire, Buckingham tells his aides to meet him 'outside London' in 3 days, but gives no specific location. They later meet in a forest somewhere; it does not appear to be private land owned by Buckingham or anyone else, yet they all seem to know exactly where to go.

Revealing Mistake

When Anne Boleyn replies to Henry and sends him a handkerchief as a token of 'her growing loyalty....and affection', she is shown writing, but the paper has no ink on it.
