Captain Rojas arrives in northern Chile from Santiago to investigate the mysterious disappearance of young schoolchildren in Alto Hospicio. Carrasco, the local policeman assigned as his partner, tries to explain the official theory: The girls fled the hell of their homes to prostitute themselves abroad. Rojas's investigation and the disappearance of \u00c1vila's daughter, a fisherman in the area, reveal a much worse truth. Rojas is convinced that the young women were kidnapped or murdered.
