Shane David LeCocq, born in New Orleans, is an actor, director, writer, and skilled dancer and choreographer. His career spans over 30 years and includes more than 100 projects across stage, screen, television, radio, and competitive Ballroom/Latin dance.
His passion for show business began in high school drama club, where from sophomore to senior year, he performed in 11 plays, often in lead roles.
Shane left New Orleans to attend NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, studying for three years at the Atlantic Theater Company under mentors such as David Mamet, William H. Macy, Felicity Huffman, Clark Gregg, Josh Pais, Karen Kohlhaas, Robert Bella, Bob Krakower, Camryn Manheim, and Susan Finch. His final year was spent at NYU's film/television studio, Stonestreet Studios, and studying piano through the music department.
During his six years in NYC, the Off-Broadway scene became his base. He entertained audiences in New York comedy clubs with his sketch troupe THE LATEX BAGELS, starred in one-act plays by Peter Hodges and Howard Korder, originated the Preacher in Diane Amsterdam's CARNIVAL 'ROUND THE CENTRAL FIGURE directed by Karen Kohlhaas, and played the Duke in MEASURE FOR MEASURE under Scott Freeman’s direction.
At the Atlantic Theater, Shane impressed audiences as Gaston in THE UTOPIA PROJECT and as Crowsfoot in Mac Wellman’s HARM'S WAY, both directed by Josh Pais. Judd Hirsch praised THE UTOPIA PROJECT as the finest theater he had seen all year.
After earning his BFA in acting from NYU, Shane was cast Off-Broadway in consecutive Eric Bogosian revivals, TALK RADIO and SCENES FROM THE NEW WORLD, playing lead roles originally performed by Bogosian himself.
Around this period, Shane began his journey into ballroom dance and teaching, starting as a summer job in 1997 and evolving into a passionate career. With over 27 years of professional experience, he is fully credentialed in all five partner dancing styles: American Smooth & Rhythm, International Standard & Latin, and Theater Arts.
Inspired by legends like Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, James Cagney, and Bob Fosse, Shane has committed his career to both acting and dance as storytelling arts.
He has served as Dance Choreographer/Captain for numerous projects, including UNDERGROUND RAILROAD, QUARRY, THINK LIKE A DOG, and LISA FRANKENSTEIN directed by Zelda Williams.
As an actor, Shane has appeared as Captain Harold Longford on NCIS: NEW ORLEANS, played Ted Levine’s minion on Showtime’s ON BECOMING A GOD IN CENTRAL FLORIDA, and contributed to a key thematic plot point in Paul Schrader’s THE CARD COUNTER starring Oscar Isaac. He has also worked on several Disney projects, such as ULTRA VIOLET & BLACK SCORPION and QUIZ LADY.
Currently, Shane is promoting A TOUCH OF MAGIC, a charming love story he wrote, directed, and produced, which is making its rounds in film festivals throughout 2023 and 2024.
