Jaclyn Bethany is an actress and Emmy-winning filmmaker. Recognized by Variety Magazine as a "fast rising" talent and "one to watch," she recently earned an M.F.A. in Directing from the esteemed American Film Institute Conservatory. She has written, produced, and directed numerous short films showcased at festivals worldwide. Her AFI thesis film, The Delta Girl, starring Isabelle Fuhrman and Caitlin Carver, premiered at HollyShorts in 2018. Jaclyn's work centers on complex female characters, stories inspired by her Southern roots, and LGBTQ narratives from a female perspective.
In addition to AFI, Jaclyn holds a B.A. in Acting from Fordham University and an M.A. in Screenwriting from The London Film School. She created and stars in the digital series The Rehearsal, which recently earned her an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Digital Drama. Her debut feature film, Indigo Valley, acclaimed for its nuanced and natural performances, was released by Giant Pictures and is available on Amazon and Apple TV. Currently, she is in post-production on her second feature, Highway One, an ensemble dramedy set on New Year's Eve. Jaclyn is also developing an anthology of pandemic-shot features that explore dark facets of American elite culture and the distortion of the American dream. The first installment, Before the World Set Fire, featuring Brooke Bloom (She’s Lost Control) and Samuel Levine (Broadway’s The Inheritance), wrapped shooting in September, followed by the next film in the series, The Falling World, which stars an ensemble cast.
As an actress, Jaclyn will next appear in David Fincher’s Mank for Netflix, the indie feature Under the Lantern Lit Sky, and the British arthouse film Venice at Dawn. Her theater experience includes workshops and productions with Clubbed Thumb (Off-Broadway), Powerhouse/NY Stage and Film, Berkshire Theatre Festival, Arcola Theatre (London), and others. She is represented by Buchwald.
