Jeff London, a writer, producer, and director, was raised in Shafter, a small town near Bakersfield, California. His family later relocated to Covina, California, where he attended school. As the son of a Pentecostal preacher, Jeff moved frequently during his childhood, never settling long enough to form lasting friendships. He recalls moving at least 35 times. Nowadays, aside from location shoots, he prefers staying at home.
In 2001, Jeff founded Guardian Pictures Entertainment, an independent production company focused on creating uplifting films that positively impact lives. His work spans various genres, including drama, romance, and even thrillers.
Jeff’s passion for filmmaking began at age twelve. He often visited the mall bookstore to read a particular filmmaking book. Coming from a low to middle-income family with a weekly allowance of just $1, he couldn’t afford the $30 hardcover. After six months of saving, working extra jobs, and holding yard sales, he finally purchased the book and became captivated by movie-making.
Determined, Jeff stayed involved in theater and the video department through high school. Unable to afford film school, he turned his attention to motion picture special effects makeup and pursued makeup school—though the $5,000 cost was initially out of reach.
Eventually, Jeff attended the Joe Blasco Makeup Center in Hollywood, where after only three weeks, he earned high praise and was offered a key makeup artist role on a 20th Century Fox short film. In three days, he learned the importance of humility and teamwork. He freelanced as a makeup artist on various features and commercials for eight years before deciding to focus on making films.
After reading many scripts without finding one he liked, Jeff wrote his first short film about a teenage boy struggling with hidden issues and his older brother, whose bigotry foreshadows tragic consequences. Filmed over three days on a $1,500 budget, Jeff hoped to develop it into a feature.
A community college instructor encouraged him to submit the film to the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Student Short Film Awards, predicting Jeff would win the college’s second award. Initially dismissing it as encouragement, Jeff was surprised when he won Best Drama for producing and directing in the Northwest region, competing against colleges and film schools from San Francisco to South Dakota. This marked a turning point in his life.
Jeff continues to write and develop new projects, including plans for a series of family holiday books. In his leisure time, he enjoys living in the desert of Northwest Arizona.
