Javier Veiga is a multifaceted artist: actor, director, screenwriter, presenter, comedian, and producer, working across film, television, and theater.
"Friends Until Death" (2023) marks Javier Veiga's debut feature film and the first release from his production company, Medio Limón. He started his audiovisual directing career with the shorts "Sálvame" (2007) and "¿De qué se ríen las hienas?" (2011), which collectively earned nearly 200 awards at national and international festivals, becoming two of the most acclaimed Spanish short films ever.
On television, he created and executive produced the sitcom "Gym Tony" (2014–2016). In 2018, he launched "Little Coincidences" (2018–2021), a romantic comedy he wrote, directed, and starred in. It was Amazon Prime Video's first Spanish production, spanning 30 episodes over three seasons, released simultaneously in Spain, Latin America, and the United States. NBC acquired remake rights and tasked Universal Studios with producing a pilot for the U.S. adaptation.
As an actor, he became well known to the public by hosting "El club de la comedia" (1999–2001), for which he won an Ondas Award, and through roles in series like "Siete Vidas" (1999), "Moncloa, ¿dígame?" (2001), and "7 días al desnudo" (2005). In film, he starred in "Tuno negro" (2001), "El año de la garrapata" (2004), and "Escuela de seducción" (2004), among others. He has also performed in over 20 theater productions.
His theatrical career began as an actor, founding his own company, Teatro Impar, in 1996. With it, he premiered twelve productions that he authored, directed, and produced, including "Amigos hasta la muerte" (2011), "5 y acción" (2016), "Humor en blanco y negro," "Tonto el que lo lea," "Casa con dos puertas," "El vendedor de cuentos," "Vida y amores del libertino Voldemar," "Los tres mosqueteros buscando a Dartañán," and "Unha noite na praia.
