Janene, the youngest of three siblings, was born and raised in Kelowna, Canada. From a young age, she was a versatile athlete, participating in various sports and dance. Her primary passion, however, was competitive horseback riding, where she excelled nationally in show jumping and three-day eventing. Later, Janene shifted her focus from competitive equestrian sports to attend college in Victoria, BC, studying Biology and English. During this time, she became a personal trainer, fitness model, and explored mixed martial arts.
Janene’s experience training animals and horses paved the way for her stunt career, which began in 2005. Her early roles involved training movie horses, providing riding lessons to actors, and eventually doubling them for horseback scenes. Her broad athletic background quickly propelled her into a full-fledged stunt career. She has since doubled many Hollywood stars, including Angelina Jolie, Jessica Biel, Paula Patton, and Carla Gugino. Her film credits include major blockbusters like Salt, Mission: Impossible 4 – Ghost Protocol, Total Recall, Watchmen, Twilight: Breaking Dawn, and X-Men 3.
Outside of work, Janene enjoys yoga, snowboarding, hiking with her dogs, and exploring mountains with her horses. She values family, music, and world travel, embracing diverse cultures and cuisines while advocating for grassroots giving. She actively supports The Earth Charter and organizations focused on sustainable education in developing countries. Locally, she donates her time and horses to Equine Therapeutic Farms, assisting children with autism and other disabilities.
Janene remains busy stunt doubling and performing in films and television, with aspirations to take on more roles behind the camera. A career highlight came in 2011 when she won the World Taurus Stunt Award for Best Overall Stunt Performed by a Woman, recognized by her peers for doubling Angelina Jolie in Salt.
