Lynda Halligan is a seasoned national host, writer, and producer, renowned for hosting, writing, and producing hundreds of episodes of "Hollywood's Top Ten," a daily movie countdown show that aired on ReelzChannel in 2010. With a lifelong passion for movies and television, this role was a perfect fit for her. Raised in Malibu, Lynda was accustomed to seeing and interacting with celebrities regularly. As a child, she had the unique opportunity to work as an extra on a John Hughes film throughout an entire summer. At 15, after performing in a showcase attended by a talent manager and director Garry Marshall, she secured her first agent and committed to a long-term career in entertainment, both in front of and behind the camera.
Lynda's first major job after college was as an assistant to a talent agent at the prestigious Creative Artists Agency (CAA), where she interacted with celebrities daily by phone and in person. She considers this experience invaluable, as it helped her build important industry contacts, deepen her business knowledge, and develop resilience. Leveraging this experience, she transitioned into casting associate/director roles for major feature films and television projects. After several years, she returned to on-camera work with the aim of merging the business and creative sides of entertainment, reconnecting with her roots in performance and writing.
Her transition began when she was hired as the media spokesperson for the first Structure Male Underwear Model Search, traveling nationwide to scout for attractive men with great physiques—a challenging but rewarding assignment. From there, Lynda landed her first broadcasting role at KESQ, the ABC affiliate in Palm Springs, California, working as an associate producer and producer on the morning show. Soon after, she secured her first on-air news position at KTVF, the NBC affiliate in Fairbanks, Alaska, where she anchored the 11 p.m. weekday news and the 6 p.m. Saturday news. At KTVF, she took on multiple roles, including reporting, producing, shooting her own video, editing, and even directing several shows.
After gaining extensive experience in Alaska, Lynda moved to Sioux City, Iowa, where she spent two years as morning anchor and reporter at KMEG, the CBS affiliate, while also working part-time as a radio DJ on KZSR-FM. Later, she moved to Minneapolis to work for QVC as a national live host and producer. Eventually, she relocated closer to home, taking a position at KBAK/KBFX in Bakersfield, just an hour and a half from Los Angeles. Starting as the noon anchor and live morning reporter, she quickly advanced to anchor the 6 and 11 p.m. news on KBAK (CBS) and the 10 p.m. hour-long show on KBFX (FOX). She also filled in as a weather anchor and producer as needed.
Following her time in Bakersfield, Lynda pursued various projects in Los Angeles. While working full-time as a writer for the "FOX 11 Morning News" and Good Day L.A. in 1993, she also hosted numerous projects despite a demanding schedule. She hosted 13 episodes of "Make A Star," a nationwide talent contest for singers and bands airing on Fuse, reminiscent of "American Idol." As a former DJ and karaoke enthusiast, this role suited her perfectly. Concurrently, she hosted and reported for "Best Deals," a consumer show focused on finding the best bargains across Southern California, which continues to air on KTLA 5 and KCAL 9.
Embracing variety, Lynda co-hosted a home improvement pilot titled "Paint It Forward," where she helped renovate a kitchen and dining room for a deserving couple. One of her favorite roles was co-hosting and writing for "The Morning Blend" on the FOX affiliate in Southwest Florida. She remains the national spokesperson for Melaleuca and has hosted numerous infomercials, produced a video for Disney, and appeared as a newscaster and E! Entertainment host in various films.
Lynda also produced a TV pilot for FOX and Twentieth Television called "Yahoo! Buzz," a half-hour national news program that uniquely covered the top Internet search stories. When not working, she enjoys watching multiple movies in a day, writing, hiking, biking, exploring new places, going on road trips, spending time with friends and family, and making the most out of every day.
