Joaquin Garay III, an actor from Southern California, began his career at the age of 4. He was born into an entertainment family; his father, Joaquin Garay, was a prominent entertainer and radio personality during the 1930s and 40s, best known as the voice of Panchito in Disney’s The Three Caballeros (1944).
From enjoying Happy Meals in McDonald's commercials to following his father’s footsteps at Disney as a star in Herbie Goes Bananas (1980), Joaquin has done it all. He has appeared in over 100 commercials throughout his career. His passion for comedy emerged years ago, leading him to perform on numerous Southern California stages, including The Groundlings, Improv Olympics, The Ice House, Flappers, The Comedy Store, and The Laugh Factory. Over time, he wrote and performed many sketch comedy shows in L.A., eventually landing a writing and performing role on SiTV (now Nuvo). His work on Unacceptable Behavior (2006) earned a NAMIC Vision Award nomination for Best Comedy.
Expanding his repertoire, Joaquin took on lead roles in theater productions such as Neil Simon's The Odd Couple and multiple runs of Ray Bradbury's The Wonderful Ice Cream Suit, where he had the privilege of working directly with Ray Bradbury before his passing.
Having been involved in the entertainment industry from a young age, Joaquin continues to work on various projects, occasionally appearing in films, on stage, or television. He is set to appear in the upcoming film Billy Knight (2025), where he had the honor of working alongside one of his idols, Al Pacino. Truly, dreams do come true.
Whether writing, directing, producing, or recently teaching, Joaquin is always engaged in what he loves. He resides in the Los Angeles area with his wife and daughter, Carmina Garay, who has carried on the family tradition.
