Sabina Kodra graduated from the Academy of Arts in Tirana, Albania, in 1999 with a degree in theater direction. In 2001, she founded the Albanian film production company EraFilm and co-produced her first feature film, Letters in the Wind, directed by Edmond Budina, which received a quality award in Italy in 2003. She produced the 2011 comedy feature Balkan Bazaar by Edmond Budina, Agon (2012) by Robert Budina—Albania's selection for the 2013 US Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Feature—and BOTA by Iris Elezi and Thomas Logoreci, which was Albania's entry for the 2015 US Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Feature and won the Fedeora Award at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. She co-produced Sworn Virgin by Laura Bispuri, which competed at Berlinale 2015 and earned awards such as Best Film at the First Youth Film Festival, the Golden Firebird Award at the Hong Kong Film Festival, the Golden Gate Award at the San Francisco International Film Festival, and the Nora Ephron Prize at the Tribeca Film Festival.
In 2018, A Shelter Among The Clouds premiered at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia in the official competition. The film participated in over 20 festivals worldwide, winning awards including the Global Visual Award at Cinequest Film & Creativity Festival in San Jose, USA; Best Film at the La Valletta International Film Festival, Malta; Best Film, Best Actor, and Best Actress at PriFilmFest, Kosovo; and Best Music and Sound Mix at the Mediterranean Film Festival Valencia, Spain. A Shelter Among The Clouds is the first Albanian-language film distributed in Germany for more than six months, with approximately 20,000 admissions, plus 5,000 admissions in Albania. It was broadcast on Digitalb Albania, Albanian National TV RTSH, and HBO.
In 2019, the short film My Name Is Sonila by Suela Bako premiered at the Cracow International Film Festival and was released by Canal+. Along with Hands in the Pocket by Ergys Meta, it participated in numerous festivals worldwide. In 2022, the TV miniseries The Square of Power, written and directed by Robert Budina, aired on Albania's largest national TV channel, KLAN, achieving an average audience share of 35%. Also in 2022, the feature film One Of Us by Ergys Meta premiered at the Cottbus International Film Festival and continues to be screened at festivals.
Currently, Sabina Kodra is in postproduction on Waterdrop, a feature film by Robert Budina supported by Media Creative Europe’s mini slate. She is also developing Suela Bako’s first feature film, The Three of Us, supported by Media Creative Europe in 2021; Ajola Daja’s debut feature Made of Dust, supported by Media Creative Europe’s mini slate; and Çunaj’s first feature, Welcome Home.
In 2018, Sabina founded the Albanian Women in Audiovisual (AWA) association, aiming to strengthen women's potential, encourage their presence, and empower their voice within the Albanian audiovisual sector. In 2023, the Albanian Parliament passed an anti-sexism law in media and audiovisuals, proposed by AWA. Sabina served on the jury for European Work in Progress 2019 in Cologne, Germany. Since 2015, she has been an ACE producer.
