Florin Tanase was born on April 13, 1944, in Vulcan, Hunedoara County, Romania. He completed a four-year Acting program at the renowned National University for Theatre and Movie ("IATC," now "UNATC") in 1968, studying under Professor Costache Antoniu, with assistance from Victor Moldovanu and Petrica Vasilescu. Initially employed by the Toma Caragiu Theatre in Ploiesti, he performed only one play there before joining the Theatre in Timisoara for two years. From 1973 to 1975, he was part of the Comedy Theatre in Bucharest. Tanase was a versatile actor, mainly known for his roles in comedies. After graduating, he furthered his education by taking courses in Theatre Direction. He is fondly remembered for two video clips featuring Puiu Calinescu (June 21, 1920 – May 16, 1997), a well-known Romanian comedy actor famous for his expressive performances, notably as Trandafir in the TV series "Brigada Diverse" (B.D.), where he acted alongside other prominent Romanian comedians such as Dem Radulescu, Jean Constantin, Toma Caragiu, Sebastian Papaiani, and Stefan Banica. Florin Tanase was married to Florentina Tanase, an actress at Teatrul "Tandarica." They had two sons, Vlad Alexandru (born 1978) and Tudor (born 1982). Florin Tanase passed away on June 1, 2003, in Bucharest at the age of 59.
