Sean Cory Cooper was born in Hartford, Connecticut, the result of an affair between his mother and a married jazz pianist. He developed an interest in acting early on, performing in a community theatre production of "David And Lisa," but did not seriously pursue acting until after high school. At age 12, he moved with his mother and stepfather to South Ozone Park, Queens, NY, where he attended John Adams High School. After graduating, Sean briefly attended Kingsborough Community College before leaving to focus on acting full-time.
Sean studied acting at various institutions, including HB Studios, Weist Barron-Hill, and with private instructors specializing in the Meisner technique. However, he believes the best way to learn is through experience, so he quickly began working in New York theatre, appearing in numerous off-Broadway productions. He earned his Equity card while working for "The Floating Hospital" under the Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) contract and joined Actor's Equity in 1993, followed shortly by AFTRA. Though he loved New York, Hollywood called; in 1994, Sean relocated to Los Angeles. Since then, he has been fortunate to appear in numerous independent films, the Academy Award-winning film "Crash," and alongside Jet Li and DMX in "Cradle 2 The Grave." Sean has also expanded into voiceover work, lending his voice to Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep commercials for years, among many other commercials both on-camera and voiceover. Additionally, he voiced the character "David Weston" in the "Terminator: Salvation" video game.
On television, Sean has appeared on "The Practice," "7 Days," and worked on the pilot episode of "The Black Donnellys." Although he does not appear in the pilot—his scene was not filmed due to time constraints involving child actors—he was booked, on set, paid, and received residuals. Sean is deeply grateful for the opportunities he has had so far and looks forward to many more in the future.
