Gunnar Ryan Wiik, professionally known as Ryan Wiik, is a filmmaker and seasoned entertainment entrepreneur known for launching highly innovative ventures in the film industry.
Wiik leads the creative and production efforts of El Paso Verse - a first-of-its-kind cinematic universe and community-driven project set in the mythic desert frontier between Texas and Mexico. Designed as both a film saga and a real-world destination, El Paso Verse blends cinematic storytelling, land development, and immersive technology to create a living, breathing world where people can build lives, characters, and frontier experiences. The project has multiple films in active development and production under the El Paso Verse banner.
Earlier in his career, Wiik gained public attention through his leadership of WR Entertainment - not as CEO, but as the lead actor and producer of a planned international film franchise. He spent years developing the Morgan Kane series, based on the bestselling novels by Louis Masterson, and was originally set to star in the title role. In 2016, he helped take WR Entertainment public on the Oslo Stock Exchange's Merkur Market. Early investors from Wiik's original development company reportedly saw returns of over 1000% with public listing. The franchise had became a hot property, attracting major investors and A-list talent - until creative differences led Wiik to step away. Thereafter, the Morgan Kane project -- ceased its trajectory to the screen, and IP rights were reverted to the authors' estate in 2020.
In the years that followed, Wiik's companies reacquired certain production rights to Louis Masterson works, including the publishing rights to the Morgan Kane novels. Among the new projects is Cimarrón, a film that began filming in Almeria, Spain under Wiik's creative direction.
Wiik is also the subject of the upcoming feature-length documentary "The Curse of Kane", produced by Indie Film, which follows his global ventures across the entertainment industry.
He has also founded Kamara, in Switzerland and Spain, an entertainment company envisioned by Wiik to provide much needed innovation to the entertainment industry -- by shifting the power into the hands of artists.
