Angus Benfield, born in Sydney, Australia, began his career in film and television at age 14. He earned his breakthrough role straight out of acting school as Lex in the cult classic film Lex and Rory (1994), directed by Dean Murphy. He later appeared in the Australian TV series E Street (1989) as Cody Ryder alongside Simon Baker from The Mentalist (2008).
In 1999, Angus relocated to New Zealand to play Officer Tom in the TV series Kaitangata Twitch (2010). He won Best Actor at the 48 Hour Film Festival in 2005 and starred as Jack in the indie film Wait Up Harriet (2006) and as Pastor Luke in The Holy Roller (2010).
Angus moved to Los Angeles with his family in 2017, starring as the charming motivational speaker Fatty Melvin in Motorvation (2022) alongside Judy Norton of The Waltons (1972). He received Best Actor awards at the Canadian Cinematography Awards and New York Cinematography Awards in 2020, as well as the Eastern Europe International Movie Awards in 2021 for this role. Motorvation was released across the US in May 2022. In 2019, he portrayed illegal casino owner Willy Hollingsworth on CBS's NCIS: Los Angeles (2009) alongside LL Cool J, Eric Christian Olsen, and Chris O'Donnell, and played real-life lawyer Paul Hoffman in A Fire Within (2022).
He starred as Jonathan Stone opposite Eric Roberts in Heaven (2020), released US-wide in October 2020. Recently, Angus co-starred as Steve Lagos in Shonda Rhimes' Netflix miniseries Inventing Anna (2022) alongside Julia Garner and Anna Chlumsky, and played lead Jake in Yellow Bird (2023) with Brian Doyle-Murray and Kathy Garver. In 2023, he starred as Connor McCloud in The Great Turkey Town Miracle (2023) with Cameron Arnett, Joe Fortune in Purgatory Station (2024) alongside Bob Gunton and Sean O'Bryan, and Jet Sanders in The Post (2023).
Angus is a highly versatile actor known for his depth, dramatic presence, and exceptional comedic talent. In addition to numerous TV commercials in the USA, Australia, and New Zealand, he also enjoys a successful career as a screenwriter, producer, and director.
