Jack Hartnett, a highly decorated combat veteran of the United States Marine Corps, has built a diverse career in the entertainment industry as an actor, writer, director, and producer. He has appeared in roles ranging from supporting to lead in films and TV shows such as "Hitch," "Sex and the City," "Stranded," "Regresa," and "Shortcut to Happiness," acting alongside notable performers like Anthony Hopkins, Eva Mendes, Will Smith, Blanca Soto, Jaime Camil, Erica Durance, Alec Baldwin, and Kim Cattrall.
Before his entertainment career, Jack was an All-American football player at Hofstra University in New York. He then served his country in the Marines, with combat tours in the Gulf War and Somalia. After returning to New York, he pursued his passion for acting, studying with top private coaches from The Actors Studio and earning an Associate’s degree in Theater Arts from the NY Academy of Dramatic Arts. His success came swiftly, landing roles on every New York soap opera, numerous national commercials, and a prolific modeling career that included more than 700 novel covers and major retail and consumer campaigns.
Jack made his writing and directorial debut with the bilingual short film "La Vida Blanca," which he also produced. The film launched the international acting career of Miss Mexico Blanca Soto, his then-wife, and won Best Short Film and Best Actress awards at the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival.
He further developed his directing career by working with Blanca Soto, Chris Pratt, and Scott Caan on "Deep in the Valley," followed by multiple projects in the U.S. and abroad that earned various acting awards for Soto.
Deeply connected to the Latin community, Jack collaborated with multiple directors to help achieve significant successes not only for Soto but also for the feature films "Divina Confusion" and "Regresa," as well as the highest-rated telenovela in U.S. history, "Eva Luna."
Returning to the broader U.S. market, Jack applied his creative talents on both sides of the camera with two short films, "Sovereign" and "Bottle in the Smoke."
"Sovereign," a passion project for the former infantry officer, fulfilled his commitment to hire fellow military veterans transitioning into the entertainment industry. The project involved 33 veterans working on both sides of the camera to tell a story about veterans, created by veterans.
He then returned to his hometown of New York to direct, co-write, and co-produce "Bottle in the Smoke," co-starring five-time Emmy Award-winning actress Martha Byrne.
Guided by the philosophy of supporting those who support us, Jack is a dedicated advocate for veterans and their families. He continues to provide employment opportunities and career guidance for veterans and has frequently joined entertainers and musicians in visiting wounded warriors at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and local VA hospitals.
