Andrew, born in Toronto, received his education at Upper Canada College and Royal St. George's College. He is also an alumnus of Dalhousie University in Halifax and Mount Royal University in Calgary. He brings a wide range of hands-on experience to the Canadian film and television sector.
After spending four summers at Toronto's PS Production Services and PS Lightsource, Andrew worked on various crews before joining Cinemedic Productions in 2001. He relocated to the West Coast in 2003. Serving as a Production Manager and Line Producer at Vancouver's Insight Film Studios and Shavick Entertainment, he contributed to producing numerous MOWs and Feature Films. His dramatic credits include: "Pursued," "Zolar," "Snowman's Pass," "Killer Bash," "Fatal Reunion," "Deadly Skies," "Brotherhood IV," "Criminal Intent," "Captive Hearts," and "Canes."
His documentary work features the Gemini and Leo Award-winning mini-series "Secret Files of the Inquisition" for Vision TV/PBS, which also won the NY Festival's 'Best Docudrama,' and the Gemini-nominated Discovery Channel Canada series "Human Wildlife: The Life That Lives On Us."
In 2008, Andrew received a Leo Award for Best Documentary Series and a Gemini Award for Best History Program for the Australia/Canada co-produced four-part mini-series "Captain Cook: Obsession and Discovery," produced in association with Film Australia and Cook Films, and aired on History Television Canada, ABC Australia, New Zealand Prime, and Arte France/Germany.
He co-wrote "The Dark Ones," a feature film currently in development. In 2009, Andrew produced another Australia/Canada co-production, the three-part docudrama mini-series "Darwin's Brave New World" for ABC Australia, ZDF/Arte, UKTV History, and CBC's 'The Nature of Things.' The series was nominated for a Gemini Award and four Leo Awards, and won the Silver Dragon at the China Dragon Awards in 2010.
In fall 2010, Andrew established Ferns Entertainment, headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
