Tanis is an actor and producer who is a member of the Métis Nation of Alberta (Cree). Her television credits include Billions, FBI: Most Wanted, Gossip Girl, Designated Survivor, House of Cards, and Tribal. In New York theatre, she has performed at The Public Theater, Signature Theatre, 59E59 Theaters, and La Mama. Regionally, she has appeared at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. As a producer, her debut short film, A Big Black Space, secured a broadcasting deal with ARTÉ in Europe, won Best Canadian Short at the Dreamspeakers Film Festival, and received the Royal Reel Award at the Canada International Film Festival. Tanis has received funding from the Canada Council for the Arts, Alberta Media Fund, Alberta Media Arts Alliance Society, and Vision Maker Media. She is currently developing a short-form digital series for APTN Lumi. Tanis serves on the board of the Peace Region Independent Media Artists Association, is a member of the Alberta Media Production Industries Association, and sits on the SAG-AFTRA National Native Americans Committee. She has participated in mentorship programs including Netflix-Banff Diversity of Voices, Banff Spark Accelerator, NSI Art of Business Management - Indigenous Edition, ISO/Netflix Indigenous Production Apprenticeship, Whistler Film Festival Producers Lab, The Genre Film Lab, AMAAS One2One, and AMPIA.
