Ioan Mihai Cortea graduated from the National University of Theater and Cinematography in Bucharest, studying under Professor Liviu Lucaci, class of 2008, and is also a master's student at the same university.
In 2009, he performed in the show "Miss Iulia," based on August Strindberg, at the Comedy Theater, directed by his university professor Liviu Lucaci. His film roles include Oli in the short film "Oli's Wedding" by Tudor Jurgiu, Fabritius in "Germans" (season 1), Victor in "The Fight," Spotter in "Dead on Ice," and Maurice in "Truth Serum."
He has appeared in choreography productions such as "Anna" (dancer), "Human Blockade" (dancer), "The End, Now, and After" (dancer), and "Comaholik" (screenwriter and dancer).
Cortea also participated in the "Olive'08" Festival in Sofia, Bulgaria.
At the 2010 HOP Gala, in the individual category, Ioan Cortea received the Stefan Iordache award for best actor, a prize worth 1,000 Euros established in memory of the renowned actor Stefan Iordache. He presented the recital "Alexis Zorba" by Nikos Kazantzakis, delivering a monologue marked by introspection and thoughtfulness. Despite being early in his career, Cortea revealed a depth reminiscent of the wild spirit of the famous Alexis Zorba, portraying the character as he "confesses" his youthful sins, burdened by deep remorse.
Recently honored at the Gala HOP, Ioan Mihai Cortea has also been invited to the "Unidrama" theater festival in Targu Mures, which features one-person plays.
