Kathrine Baumann, born and raised in Independence, Ohio, was a varsity cheerleader at Independence High School, cheering for eight years throughout junior and senior high school. In 1970, she earned first runner-up in the Miss America Pageant, excelling in both the Talent and Swimsuit segments. Using her Miss America scholarship, she enrolled in filmmaking courses at UCLA and spent a summer studying abroad at Oxford University. She also studied acting under the guidance of renowned actor Agnes Moorehead.
Over her 15-year acting career, Kathrine appeared as a guest star on numerous television shows, including M*A*S*H, Knight Rider, Simon and Simon, The Fall Guy, Fantasy Island, CHiPS, The Dukes of Hazzard, and several made-for-TV movies. The M*A*S*H episode "Henry In Love," written for her by Oscar-winning producer Larry Gelbart, is considered one of the top three episodes of the series.
In 1988, under the name "Kathy Lynn," she opened Kathrine Baumann Beverly Hills, a jewelry store in Beverly Hills, CA. This venture led to her recognition as the "Beverly Hills Bag Lady." The store specializes in pop-art and pro sports team-themed handbags, earning her the title "Queen of Hollywood's Red Carpet." CNN has also dubbed her the "female Andy Warhol." Her clientele includes Joan Rivers, Suzanne Somers, actress Bai Ling, and Dionne Warwick.
