Dawn holds a B.S. in Theatre Performance from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville (SIU-E) and has been an Equity member since 1987. Early in her career, she worked in the St. Louis and Chicago markets, earning her AFTRA, AEA, and SAG union memberships. In 1996, Dawn relocated to Los Angeles, launching a seventeen-year television career that includes six pilots, three series regular roles, and over twenty-five guest star appearances. Her notable work includes series regular roles on Viper, 413 Hope Street, Starhunter, and Nobody; a recurring role on The Young and the Restless; and guest appearances on Star Trek: Enterprise, Ally McBeal, Profiler, Beverly Hills 90210, and True Blood. Among her favorite guest star experiences are working with Damon Wayans on My Wife and Kids, Steve Harvey on The Steve Harvey Show, Wanda Sykes on Wanda at Large, and Monique on The Parkers. Her film credits include The Fugitive and Original Gangstas. On stage, some of Dawn's cherished roles include Lady Macbeth in Macbeth, Kate in Taming of the Shrew, Olivia in Twelfth Night, Paulina in A Winter's Tale, Goneril in King Lear, and currently Margaret of Anjou in She-Wolf, a Shakespeare adaptation she co-wrote with Stephan Wolfert.
Dawn is especially proud of her position as COO of De-Cruit, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. De-Cruit is the nation's only veteran-created, interdisciplinary, strengths-based, scientifically validated theater program aimed at supporting military veterans by addressing traumatic stress and related challenges during their transition from military to civilian life. The program specifically targets the spectrum of military, pre-military, and post-military traumas veterans face, helping them to heal and move forward.
