Avi Youabian is an Emmy-nominated, award-winning director whose television credits include Countdown, All American, The Walking Dead, Rescue: HI-Surf, Magnum P.I., Quantum Leap, Supergirl, Another Life, and FBI: International. A graduate of the USC School of Cinematic Arts, Avi started his career as an editor before moving into directing. This experience continues to influence his approach on set, providing him with a strong grasp of story structure, rhythm, coverage, and how each decision will ultimately be edited together. His method is intentional and efficient, focused on understanding what a scene requires, simplifying where possible, and preserving performance, pacing, and visual intent during production. His early directing work features the digital series Tainted Love, which Variety named one of the Top 10 Web Series of 2013. He later directed Tom Clancy’s Wildlands and received an Emmy nomination for directing and producing The Walking Dead: Red Machete. Before directing television, Avi’s editing work involved projects with filmmakers and producers such as Halle Berry, John Wells, Brad Anderson, and Jon M. Chu. He has since directed for leading studios, networks, and streaming platforms, developing a diverse portfolio across broadcast, cable, and streaming television.
