Mike Boss was born in Toronto, Canada, and was raised in Switzerland from the age of one, where his family settled in the Canton of Baselland. He later earned a diploma in civil engineering design and served in the Swiss military before deciding to pursue a creative career in film.
In 1995, Boss relocated to Los Angeles, learned English, and trained as an actor. Over the following years he worked in theatre and independent film, experiences that helped shape a character-driven perspective and eventually led him to screenwriting.
After several years of acting, Boss focused on writing and began developing original feature projects. He has written more than 20 screenplays and has received recognition for his work.
Boss expanded into writing, directing, and producing his own projects, beginning with the short Inimicus (2015). He went on to write, direct, and produce the feature Anonymous 616 (2018), followed by A House Divided (2020), where he again served as writer, director, and producer. His more recent credits include Unnamed (2025), a feature written and directed by his wife, Jessica Boss, on which he served as co-writer, producer, and executive producer.
Together with Jessica Boss, he founded Boss Pictures to develop and produce independent films with a focus on compelling characters and meaningful themes.
