Mr. O'Keefe is an award-winning writer, producer, and director with over twenty years of experience in the film industry, drawing on this extensive background to create successful film productions. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Communications from Northeastern University and a Master's degree in Film Production from Loyola Marymount University.
He founded Vanguard Productions to create a company dedicated to producing high-quality independent films for the global market. Vanguard Productions' debut feature, "We The People," premiered at the 1995 Cannes Film Festival and was one of only two American films selected to screen at the 1995 Moscow Film Festival.
O'Keefe's producing credits include "The Bad Pack," starring Robert Davi, Roddy Piper, and Ralf Moeller; "Closing The Deal," featuring Ray Wise, James Wilder, and Michael Bergin; and "Wanted," which he also wrote and directed, starring Timothy Busfield, Robert Culp, Michael Sutton, and Tracy Gold. He also produced "Alien Express" for the Syfy Channel, starring Lou Diamond Phillips, Barry Corbin, and Steven Brand.
He produced "Route 666" for Lions Gate Films, starring Lou Diamond Phillips and Lori Petty. Upon its initial release on the Syfy Channel, "Route 666" was the network’s highest-rated movie and has since become a cult classic, still frequently airing on cable networks over 15 years later. Following the success of "Route 666," Syfy commissioned O'Keefe's "Alien Express" as an original movie, which is ranked 121 on Syfy’s list of the top 200 best original films of all time.
Mr. O'Keefe has served as a Blue Ribbon panel judge for the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Animation Awards and Music Video Awards, as well as for the International Emmy Awards and the 19th Annual CableACE Awards. He is a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the Telly Awards Silver Council, Independent Film Project West (IFP), the Magic Castle (AMA), and is a SAG Signatory Producer. He is listed in both "Who's Who In Entertainment" and "Who's Who In California.
