Amir Jamal Williams was born in Harlem, New York City, to Allison Williams, a Broadway dancer, singer, and actress. He started acting at age two, initially appearing in commercials and print ads. By six, he played J.T. Rallins on the popular TV series "A Different World." After some theater work, he starred in the HBO original film "Daybreak," alongside Cuba Gooding Jr., Moira Kelly, Omar Epps, and Martha Plimpton. At twelve, he secured a recurring role as Jamal Wilson-Cudahy on the soap opera "All My Children," a part he held for several years. During that time, Amir also appeared in various TV movies and guest-starred twice on "New York Undercover" as Brian Moore, the best friend of the character G. At seventeen, he voiced the character "Mack" on the animated series "Daria." After stepping away from acting to focus on writing and other pursuits, he returned in 2016, making his directorial debut with the stage production of Diary of a Mother, written by Hope Hollinsworth-Coaxum, in which he also had a minor role. In 2017, he published his first novel, Flame of Retribution, a fictional story inspired by the 2006 shooting death of Sean Bell. Amir currently lives in Upstate New York with his wife and two children.
