Abby Corrigan was born in 1998 in Charlotte, North Carolina, five minutes after her twin sister Emma, who has Down syndrome. Her father, Mike, manages sign language interpreters and is a hidden musician, while her mother, Mitzi, works as a Casting Director. Both parents have strong ties to Charlotte's theatre scene, having participated in the Charlotte Shakespeare Company, Charlotte Repertory Theatre, Theatre Charlotte, and more. Abby and Emma spent much of their early years in theatres watching rehearsals or in casting studios observing auditions, which naturally sparked Abby's early interest in acting. She took classes at the Children's Theatre of Charlotte and eagerly auditioned for plays, while also studying ballet, dance, and singing. In grade school, Abby co-founded the Treehouse Acting Company with her friend Matt Mitchell to create more opportunities for young artists to play leading roles. Together, they produced, directed, and acted in several plays, including an award-winning original teen rock musical titled Cyber Soul. Abby attended Northwest School of the Arts, continuing her training both in and out of school, and also studied acting and voice during summer sessions in Los Angeles. Her stage credits include the Emcee in Cabaret, Daniela in In The Heights, Peter Pan in Peter Pan, Natalie in Next To Normal, and Maureen in Rent. She earned the Blumey's Best Actress Award in 2014 for her role as Fiona in Shrek The Musical. Her film and TV work includes Headed South For Christmas; A Smile As Big As The Moon; The Ultimate Life; Redneck Roots; Homeland; Rectify; and Banshee. During college Unified auditions in NYC, she was invited to audition for the National Broadway Tour of Fun Home and was excited to secure the role of Medium Alison. Since September 2016, she has been touring across the U.S., with the tour running through December 2017.
