George Stroumboulopoulos, a seasoned broadcaster in television and radio, is known for his genuine and approachable style, making him one of Canada's most trusted and respected media personalities.
A dedicated advocate for social and environmental causes, George has supported numerous initiatives throughout his career. In March 2011, he was appointed as the first Canadian National Ambassador Against Hunger for the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), the largest humanitarian organization worldwide. In 2008, he spearheaded One Million Acts of Green, which led to over 1.6 million green acts being recorded on its official platform. In January 2010, George served as executive producer and co-host of Canada for Haiti, a live benefit event that united actors, artists, and athletes to raise more than $27 million for Haitian earthquake relief. On March 6, 2012, the World Economic Forum named him a Young Global Leader (YGL) for 2012, one of only three Canadians honored.
George has also contributed to various charitable organizations including Nelson Mandela's Children's Fund (Canada), the Canada Africa Partnership on AIDS (CAP AIDS), War Child Canada, and Make Poverty History. He is a board member of The David Suzuki Foundation and Artists for Peace and Justice Canada (APJ). In September 2011, he was honored with the inaugural Swarovski Humanitarian Award at the 5th annual Playback Canadian Film and Television Hall of Fame Gala in Toronto.

George began his journalism career in 1993 at a radio station in Kelowna, British Columbia. He later moved to Toronto, Ontario, working in radio for four years at The Fan 590 and 102.1 The Edge. In 2000, he transitioned to television as producer and host of NewMusic and MuchNews on MuchMusic. He stayed there until 2005, when he joined CBC as host and co-executive producer of The Hour. Initially airing on CBC Newsworld, George quickly elevated The Hour to a critically acclaimed and popular show on the main CBC Network. In 2007, he returned to radio to host the syndicated music and talk program, The Strombo Show, which airs Sunday nights on CBC Radio.
